The leaders of regional bloc Southern African Development Community are meeting in Ethiopia to discuss the disputed elections in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
Losing presidential candidate Martin Fayulu has challenged the outcome in a court and demanded a recount of last month’s vote. A ruling is expected by Friday.
Fayulu insists he won 61 percent of the vote, contradicting official results released by the electoral commission, which declared rival Felix Tshisekedi the winner.
David Monyae, a senior political analyst at the University of Johannesburg, talks to Al Jazeera about the disputed election results.
