So-called ‘social credit’ trials are underway, and people accused of bad behaviour are being penalised.
Last year, more than 17 million people with low scores were barred from buying plane tickets, and another five million weren’t allowed on high-speed trains.
Four million companies have been blacklisted for what it called ‘untrustworthy conduct’, such as defrauding customers.
Is this ethical, and could it be taking surveillance too far?
