It is estimated that as many as 90 percent of China’s urban youth will have short-sightedness by the time they complete high school.
That is three times the rate among children in the United States or Europe.
Some scientists are linking the country’s high-myopia levels to an excessive study load and the spread of mobile phones and other devices.
