Talk’s international editor Isabel Oakeshott slams the BBC for feeling ‘anxious’ to cover topics which ‘could appear hostile to migrants’.
“They employ hundreds of people to promote diversity and inclusion, but don’t promote diversity of thought!”
Dr. Madeline Sumption’s review, which was commissioned by the BBC board in April 2023, has concluded that the BBC’s migration coverage does not exhibit a consistent bias towards any particular viewpoint.
However, the review also highlighted certain vulnerabilities that pose risks to maintaining impartiality. According to Dr. Sumption, the BBC produces a substantial amount of commendable content on migration, but there are also areas that need improvement.
The review specifically identified “risks to impartiality that point in multiple directions.”
