In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had pulled off its biggest victory by winning a simple majority with 282 seats. The biggest boost to the party had come from Uttar Pradesh where it won 71 seats, compared to the mere 10 it bagged in 2009. Worth mentioning is that traditional caste- and community-based model of politics were also redefined in the 2014 elections.
