Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has just received the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts fostering peace with the country’s neighbour, Eritrea.
Abiy Ahmed was recognised for his role in ending a decades-long military standoff and re-establishing relations between the two countries.
Receiving the prestigious award, Ahmed said he was accepting it on behalf of Ethiopians and Eritreans who made the ‘ultimate sacrifice’ for peace.
