Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews’ “ego was talking” when he offered to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games, according to former golf pro Mark Allen.
“I go back a year and I can’t believe he took it when nobody wanted it – when we as a state were virtually bankrupt,” Mr Allen told Sky News contributor Steve Price.
“How anybody at that stage could think that spreading the Commonwealth Games across the state, the most expensive possible thing you could do, was baffling.”
