Congress president Rahul Gandhi has promised to give Rs 72,000 per annum to 20 per cent of India’s poorest families if Congress comes to power in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The scheme will benefit 5 crore families and 25 crore individuals directly, according to Gandhi. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley termed Rahul Gandhi’s promise as the “biggest bluff”. He asserted that the Modi government was already giving one-and-a-half times more money to the poor. NITI Aayog Chairman Rajiv Kumar also gave a strong warning to the Congress, calling the announcement “irresponsible in fiscal terms.” #RahulGandhi #MinimumIncomeScheme #IndiaElects
