British Airways has warned it could make up to 12,000 workers redundant, because of the collapse in air travel caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Its parent company predicts that it will be several years until demand returns to recent levels.
Meanwhile the UK government’s scientific advisors have confirmed that some social distancing measures will be in force until at least the end of this year. Businesses in the hospitality sector such as pubs and restaurants are already badly affected by the lockdown.
