Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has just received the Nobel peace prize for his efforts fostering peace with the country’s neighbour, Eritrea.
Abiy was recognised for his role in ending a decades-long military standoff and re-establishing relations between the two countries.
Receiving the prestigious award, Abiy said he was accepting it on behalf of Ethiopians and Eritreans who made the “ultimate sacrifice” for peace.
