Russian trolls are being called out for their nefarious antics yet again. This time they are being blamed for a measles outbreak in Europe, according to US government-funded Radio Free Europe-Radio Liberty.
But, the trouble is, the vaccine specialist quoted in the US-government-funded outlet’s piece doesn’t actually appear to support the premise of the article.
Different factors believed to have contributed to the measles crisis in Europe, other than bots allegedly spreading medical misinformation. These factors include inadequate healthcare provision, a reluctance on the part of some people to vaccinate, and general complacency have all played a role too.
Bill Boerum, a health official in Northern California, gave RT his thoughts, during the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi, on why scepticism towards vaccines has risen in recent years.
