The Group of Seven (G7) industrial powers has called for the “immediate repeal” of import curbs on Japanese seafood products on October 29, 2023, at the end of the G7 trade ministers’ two-day meeting in the Japanese city of Osaka. China, which was the biggest importer of Japanese seafood, imposed a blanket ban on Japanese aquatic products after Tokyo started releasing treated waste water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant in August. In a statement, the G7 trade ministers also denounced what they called rising economic coercion through trade.
