Transport Workers Union National Secretary Michael Kaine says Qantas has gone through “catastrophe upon catastrophe” while Richard Goyder has served as Chairman.
Mr Kaine’s comments come after Mr Goyder announced he would retire late in 2024 despite former CEO Alan Joyce wrapping up his tenure much earlier than expected, stepping down in the early days of September.
“This is a chair that has overseen, been complicit with, cheered in, the decisions of the former CEO, one of which was to have his team illegally sacked,” Mr Kaine told Sky News Australia.
“What does he take the community for? He is treating the community, shareholders and workers with contempt.
“The community has had enough – Richard Goyder has been tin-eared for the last number of weeks.
“The one good thing Richard Goyder can do is to replicate the one good thing Alan Joyce did, and that is to get out early and get out now.”
