Hong Kong’s Secret Shields Against COVID-19: How did HongKongers Contain the Coronavirus Pandemic?

In the last episode, we presented New York City’s tragic loss in the coronavirus outbreak. This episode we focus on another international financial center neighboring Mainland China – Hong Kong. It has less than 1% of NYC’s infections and deaths. Its government is by no means responsible, as there was no sufficient supply of protective equipment or timely border closure. Then, how does the power of the people flatten the curve in Hong Kong?

In 2003, the outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in Mainland China was concealed by the Chinese government, leaving HongKongers unalerted. SARS took away 300 lives in Hong Kong and caused deep psychological scars. 17 years later, the citizens learned the painful lesson to not trust the information provided by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Meanwhile, is there any other secret shield against the deadly virus?
