Hong Kong’s Thai community and locals celebrated Songkran on April 13, 2024. Unlike previous years, the famous water splashing component of the celebration took place in a designated area on a basketball court instead of in the streets. The decision to move it followed an incident in 2023 when two men were arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct after they allegedly soaked officers and reporters with a water gun.
