Sky News host James Macpherson hit the streets to get the reactions from Australians to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s decision to break a major election promise.
This comes after Mr Albanese fronted the National Press Club on Thursday to defend the government’s changed position on the stage three tax cuts.
Labor has been adamant that its position on stage three tax cuts would not change but, following an emergency caucus meeting, the party has decided to change its position due to a different economic environment.
The government’s backflip on the stage three tax cuts comes as cost of living continues to bite.
“I reckon two-thirds of people I spoke to … said, ‘look, though we may enjoy the extra money on lower incomes, people still won’t forget the fact that you can’t believe anything this Prime Minister says’,” Mr Macpherson said.
