Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva has been sworn in as Brazil’s new president, with thousands in attendance to witness the inauguration of the left-wing leader widely known as Lula.
It is the third time he has held the nation’s highest office, a post won after a closely fought election.
The veteran politician faces the challenge of uniting the country polarised under far-right predecessor Jair Bolsonaro.
