The United States had reported 3,051,427 coronavirus cases across the country as of July 8, 2020. Spikes in Covid-19 infections were seen in several states including Florida, Texas and California. Hospitals in Florida were reportedly running out of bed space, as the state’s case number hit 223,783 on July 7. On the same day, Texas hit an all-time high number of daily new cases, reporting 10,028 infections. As the grim milestone of 3 million cases was surpassed, US President Donald Trump and his administration were pushing to reopen schools nationwide.
